The Radio Broadcasting and Production courses are unique to APE Media. The emphasis on the design of the courses are to provide valuable training and experience which can be seldom gained outside of a radio station.

Courses cover three distinct areas: History and evolution of Radio, Broadcast equipment and program and presentation techniques. The course covers legal guidelines, the functions of the four tiers of radio in the UK (BBC, Commercial, Community and Pirate.)

Students are trained comprehensively on broadcast standard equipment, from digital editing and play out systems, microphones, interview techniques and broadcast desks. The students are encouraged to develop a show from concept to performance, and can potentially gain broadcast on a Newham or local borough Community Station, as well as our own platform Break FM

APE Media has links with BBC training and development, which enables us to provide all students, past and present with job opportunities, and specialist lectures from industry professionals. guest lectures are delivered by presenters from BBC Radio 1xtra, Capital Radio and Choice FM. Again, there is a valuable development of a range of skills, from literacy and numeracy, to team skills, creative thinking and self confidence.

APE Media has already seen a number of past students gain work in major radio groups such as the BBC and Capital Radio, and the feedback from these courses has always been extremely positive, with members of long standing pirate stations applying for places on the course to gain a more professional training.
APE Media facilitates exciting and tangibly rewarding courses, giving real and valuable industry experience.

APE Media won two commendations from the accreditation Panel, one for the identification of the need for courses of this type in the area, and in east London in general, and secondly a commendation for the design of the courses, which enable the students to complete one, or all of the courses and make a concerted effort to be learner friendly in their approach and encourage the progression of our students to full time education or to actively seek employment.
